Following Rab is a blog about the travels of G.I.Sportz Paintball’s Managing Partner and Global Sales Representative, Steve “Rab” Rabackoff.
Rab has been in the paintball industry for over 20 years. It has taken him around the world, making him one of the most well-known faces of paintball. He has played professionally, coached many teams and coordinated numerous events. He has also worked with distinguished companies like DYE, Diablo Direct, Pev’s and Procaps Direct. Rab was the captain of and played on the original Houston Heat in the mid 1990’s. He later joined Image, where he won his first professional event. In 1997, he played on Ironmen until he joined Avalanche. While playing with Avalanche, he won several Millennium and NPPL titles and championships. Avalanche merged to become Miami Effect, which later became Infamous. After playing with Infamous, he coached the team.
He has also created and managed various world known events throughout his career including the Gulf Coast 5-Man Tournament Series in Texas and the Mardi Gras Open in New Orleans, as well as many local tournament series. During the course of his career, he has been a constant promoter of paintball, teaching numerous clinics, in addition to creating and coaching smaller divisional teams. In 2004, Rab created the division 3 team, D.C. Devastation, where he coached current professional players Justin Rabackoff, Kevin Rudulph and Gino Benedicto.
Rab can currently be seen promoting paintball on Paintball Access’ PSP webcast, interviewing players on and off the field. He can also be seen regularly at local paintball events such as the AXBL-Lite in Texas.
